When I’m out in walking along a rocky beach or wooded path strewn with loose rocks or large stones, or simply passing time in my garden, I’ll often stop to construct spontaneous temporary sculptures to leave as chance encounters for others enjoyment, which I photograph. I also collect oddly-shaped weathered branches, vines, and other items I find that have interesting organic shapes for inspiration.
Balance Restored - a temporary rock construction in my backyard garden - it lasted about 3 hours before discovery by our local squirrels.
Stickman - I found this fragile construction while walking a beach near Santa Cruz, CA.
Buddha with Imaginary Beasts - an alter in a back yard near my home
I found these rock constructions while kayaking a shallow-water pond.
Hippo with baby. Scarring of burlwood maple tree trunk near my home.
I call this image "Nature Screams." I get chills every time I look at the photo. I discovered the image in the oak-veneer of a door in a hospital during a doctor visit. I pointed it out to the doctor and his nurses and none of the hospital staff had ever noticed it.
